  1. or economic downturn . a situation wherein all aspects that has a connection to one's economy is having a condition of instability or danger, as in social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to a decisive change. this includes high oil prices,inflation, credit crisis that leads to bankruptcy of large and well established investment banks, commercial banks in various nations around the world. increased unemployment and the probability of a global recession.

  2. situation in which a company is unable to meet its obligations, irrespective of the state of the economy as a whole. this may arise as a result of the failure of a new product to capture the attention of the market resulting in the loss of all the money spent on development and promotion, and the need to re-assess the company's future prospects.

  3. it is a situation in which a big company's or assets or country economy suddenly lose a large part of their value. now usa banks like lehman brothers having the economic crisis. that is a lose in their concern. not able to overcome their situation without big amount money. now the usa and usa depended countries has affected by the economical crisis.
