It is an Islam state and positions itself as one of the biggest influence in Islam affairs and it's faith. Though Iran these days is a force to reckon with due to it's nuclear ambitions and military might in terms of numbers it still has a long way to go to lift it's people from poverty. Most of the national budget goes to military research and development and a small portion is left to public projects and services. It is very different looking at the country from the outside looking in rather than being inside and seeing things what is truly happening to it's ordinary people and how Iranian daily life needs to improve on educational system and medical services.
